Kickball Superstitions from around CLUBWAKA

Kickball players can be very superstitious. Whether its placing trust in lucky fanny packs, or never leaving someone out of the team huddle, there have been some real quirky kickball superstitions in CLUBWAKA over the years. Here are a few of our favorites: 

Before the Game: Warm-up Rituals 

There are several warm-up related superstitions in kickball, including the belief that its good luck to touch each base before the start of the game. Some teams believe its lucky to enter the field with a team theme song, or run the bases as a group before the first inning. Many kickball pitchers also have warm-up rituals that they believe will help them pitch successfully.

Good Luck Charms

Unwashed shirts, team flags, bracelets, and cargo shorts - these are just of few of the things that kickball players believe bring luck and wins on the field.

The Rally Beer

This is when everyone on the team drinks a beer, or flabongo, or beverage of choice in an effort to bring some luck to the team as it tries to rally.

Doing a team cheer or dance after each home run

This good luck practice is a favorite throughout CLUBWAKA. According to legend, if the whole team does a cheer or dance after each home run, they’ll earn a double on the next kick! 

Putting a Smirnoff Ice on home plate 

Some kickball teams believe that icing your opponents before each new inning will bring them bad luck. Just when we thought the popularity of icing was over for good…
