Kickball Love: Our players share their own stories about relationships found through WAKA
Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at WAKA!
Pictured on the right is Rachel from one of our Los Angeles leagues and her boyfriend, Jeff. They met playing WAKA Kickball in March 2011. "It was the first game of my very first season playing (Jeff had already played a couple seasons prior) and he was a member of the opposing team," explains Rachel. "Flirty banter ensued during and after the game, and we've been together ever since."
"I would say that joining WAKA has been one of the best decisions I've ever made," says Rachel. "Not only did I meet a great guy, but I've met some really awesome people and have made great friends!"
So many couples have met through WAKA like Rachel and Jeff did, and each has their own unique story. We love hearing about these relationships that found their start at one of our kickball games or as teams mingled in the league bar after the games each week. During the month of February, we'll be highlighting some of these great kickball love stories (it's not too late for you to email us yours!).
Next up, we have an example from one of our own employees, who met her now husband back in 2006 while she was out on a St. Patrick's Day bar crawl recruiting new players for her league. Read about Kristen and Ed and keep coming back here to the Kickball Today blog all month for more stories of kickball love.
Follow us on Facebook and Twitter too, so that you don't miss these stories and other important WAKA news with the spring kickball and dodgeball seasons now open for registration and fast approaching. We also send a big thank you out to everyone of our players for choosing WAKA as a way to meet new people or for whatever your reason is---we appreciate your business!

During our second season of kickball, the league really took off. We had a decent roster of teams and people were getting along great. I was the social chair of our league and the energy of the players was great! We all loved kickball so much they worried about what we would do when the season was over, during the long cold winter until spring season started. I started a "social league" of local waka members who wanted to hang during our usual kickball time in the off season. I met Chris during the season and he joined my social league. Through laser tag, rock climbing and go-karting, I got to spend more time with him and by the next season, we were a couple. Three years later, we are now planning our wedding!
