Ever since the Founders Cup World Kickball Championship settled into the Pool Play/Elimination Bracket format, we've received questions about the bracket structure and why we do things the way we do. Why, for instance, we have brackets with fixed tracks for the various Pool Winners and Runners Up, instead of reseeding from scratch after Pool Play.

Relax and Let It Happen joined WAKA in Summer 2008. Our first WAKA season, was one to remember, we won the championship, in August (100+ degrees) with 9 players. 7 TX Capital Championships, 1 TX Cup State Championship, '09 FC Rd of 8 appearance, and '10 FC Rd of 32 appearance later, we have arrived to where we are today. Our roster is full of division-I talent, we have played and competed with some of the best teams around the country. Those who saw us last year at FC '10 know that the squad we sent there was not a representation of who the real Relax is. We are ready to build on our past FC experience and advance past the Rd of 8. Relax and Let It Happen, 2011 Kickball World Champs, it's got a nice ring to it....”

We caught up with Relax captain Jay Russell, to find out how the team is preparing for their third Founders Cup appearance.

The Salt Lake Denizen blog put together a very nice post on WAKA's UT Capital kickball league recently. Their write-up includes some great pictures and says:

"I had heard rumors about this kickball thing happening at Liberty Park on Thursday nights, but didn’t really know what it was all about.  I figured a few people got together to kick a ball around.  I was pretty close, except that a few turned out to be over a hundred...It was really cool to see all of these grown-ups enjoying the game, the weather, and the company of their friends."

Here's your chance to join two other leagues in Salt Lake City that are currently open for registration:

Tuesday Nights - DC Hill - Season starts July 12th
Wednesday Nights - DC Colonial - Season starts July 20th

Lasalle Blanks, captain of The Situation wants to show WAKA nation why Hampton Roads is one of the most dominant kickball areas in the country.

The Situation from WAKA's VA Southside league in Norfolk, Virginia is headed to the Founders Cup World Kickball Championship in October.
