CONGRATULATIONS TO "THE OTHERS" FOR WINNING THE WORLD KICKBALL CHAMPIONSHIP® FOUNDERS CUP®!

The Others

More than 1,500 players on 72 of the best teams from all corners of the nation converged on Las Vegas over Columbus Day weekend hoping to claim the coveted championship title at the 2009 World
Kickball Championship® Founders Cup®. In the end, "The Others" from the DC Capital Division emerged victoriously in a 3-1 win over "Best Coast Ballers" from the CA Gold Rush Division.

Congrats again to "The Others" and THANKS to all of the teams, the WAKA staff, volunteers and referees who made the tournament a HUGE success! We look forward to seeing everyone again in Las Vegas next year for Founders Cup XIII!

ESPN personality and columnist Jemele Hill joined WAKA this year to cover Founders Cup! Jemele interviewed the Founders, attended the opening ceremonies and became an honorary member of "Frosty Balls" from Norfolk, VA during a scrimmage game with "All Stars Only" from Portland, ME.

STRAIGHT FROM THE STRIP

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas - unless you were there for Founders Cup 2009. Take kickball,
throw in some beers and you never know what might happen. Here is a brief glimpse at the craziness
that was Founders Cup 2009!


Pool Party

The WAKA host hotel Platinum was a great place for players to gather and relax
before competing in a day full of fun and games at Desert Breeze Park.

Gold Members

"Ligers" from the FL West Palm Division showed some spirit with their mascot "Lenny the Liger."

Sofa King Good

"Sofa King Good" from the CA Hollywood Division playing in it's second game of pool play.

Pitch Please

True Love

Their love for each other brought them together - but it was their love for kickball that brought them to Vegas. After they finished their pool play games, Brett K. and Autumn F. from "The PBs" in the AZ Victory Division were married at The Little White Wedding Chapel.

Galactic Prophalactic

Dan O. from "Galactic Prophylactic" from the CA Redwoods Division is safe at first during Game 4.

Meat Balls

"MEATBALLS" from the FL Beach Division proudly showed off their "Vegas" T-shirts.

Gold Memberz

"Gold Memberz" from the NV Lucky Division take time out during the Opening Ceremonies at Platinum to pose for a group shot.

Beer Tent

The WAKA beer tent was a popular gathering place for players.

Inning Bee

WAKA extends a big special thank you to the "inning bee" who helped entertain the crowds during the finals.

Founders Cup

The Founders Cup Spirit Award goes to "Slow Yer Roll" from NM Sandia Division in Albuquerque. Thanks for participating and bringing a smile to ALL of our faces!
