Founders Cup Invitations Are Less Than A Week Away!
WAKA is so excited to be hosting Founders Cup Weekend (the biggest kickball party of the year) in Las Vegas this October! Invitations will be sent to the top 64 teams as ranked by WAKA's selection committee on August 17 at 12pm EST. Please see The 2010 WAKA Founders Cup XIII World Kickball Championship Tournament Guidelines for more information.
The Kickball Games
The Kickball Games are a series of light-hearted, non-competitive, round robin style games that will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 during Founders Cup Weekend in Las Vegas, NV. The games are just for fun, and teams can be made up of any 2010 WAKA players. The Kickball Games players get to enjoy all the fun of Founders Cup like the opening ceremonies party, the exclusive beer and game tents and the opportunity to compete in 5 superlative categories!
There are Kickball Games Team Spots still available. Don't miss out on your chance to be considered in the 3rd round of Kickball Games applications, get your application in by 11:59 pm on Friday, August 27!
Another way to be part of the Founders Cup weekend is to participate as a paid first base referee or volunteer. If you are interested in these exciting opportunities, please email us and let us know how you'd like to help.
Kick-It Founders Cup Charity Challenge
Kick-It has been selected as the official WAKA charity partner. Kick-It is a national grass roots fundraising organization with a simple concept - play kickball and help find a cure for kids with cancer.
As part of the upcoming Founder Cup Tournament, WAKA is encouraging all teams to participate in the Kick-It Challenge by raising money for pediatric cancer research.
Every team that raises $300 will be entered into a drawing to win a $2,000 cash prize.
The TOP FUNDRAISING TEAM will win the High Roller Experience of VIP treatment at all WAKA Founders Cup Events which includes: Preferred seating to Championship Game, Recognition at the Red Carpet Reception and much more!

- One of my favorite #kickball memory has to be the 'Wall of Death' with Team Viking Quest in the CA Victory league. Basically we would all line up at the line of encroachment and shout "wall of death! Wall of death!" to intimidate the kicker. Since we were all dressed in Viking gear, it worked pretty well. Such a fun team!!!!

- Las Vegas 2009 ASO the #1 Ranked team in the country VS. Frosty Balls the Defending Founders Cup Champions. It was a game for the ages that was ultimately decided in the final inning of play! I never thought kickball could be that intense...

- My favorite kickball memory is the first night of the CT Freedom fall session last year when the police showed up and made us all go into the little league field @ Nystroms park because there was a rather large black bear roaming the neighborhood because he heard there was a kickball game going on and he was trying to figure out where we were. We ended up relocating that evening! That was the most exciting game I've ever been to! LMAO!

Charity Spotlight
Big kudos to the LA Crescent Division in New Orleans - not only did the division rally together to raise nearly $5,000, they also helped out at a charity baseball game for kids.
