CLUBWAKA Happenings: Recap of December Charity Events

It’s the last day of the year, so we thought it was a great opportunity to reflect on the generosity and overall awesomeness of the CLUBWAKA community and some of the fun and joy our members are bringing to the world. Here’s a round up of cool CLUBWAKA charity events from this past month that have us smiling and ready to celebrate our way into 2017:

In Hollywood, CLUBWAKA hosted a foam dodgeball tournament where participants donated over 300 cans of food for the Salvation Army and raised more than $700 for the local YMCA. They also hosted a toy drive for the Salvation Army Weingart Youth Center where teams brought hundreds of new toys to donate. The winning team, “So you Pink you can Dodge” from the CA Sunset Dodgeball League brought a record setting 137 toys.

In Austin, CLUBWAKA members participated in a festive Winter Wonderland bar crawl and raised $350 for the Austin Children’s Shelter.

In Hampton Roads, CLUBWAKA members raised more than $300 and collected a ton of great toys for the Boys & Girls Club. They also partnered with Tribal Yoga to offer a charity yoga class which raised more than $500 for Relay for Life.

In Hartford, CLUBWAKA members volunteered to help organize a junior wheelchair basketball tournament with the Ryan Martin Foundation and hosted a toy drive for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation.

In Southern California, we hosted a Charity Bowl Reverse Coed Kickball Tournament where 18 teams competed in support their favorite causes. The winning teams chose Homecoming for Veterans and Coach Art as the beneficiaries and were able to deliver oversized checks and donations to the organizations before the holidays.

We are so grateful for this active, caring community, and look forward to many more events in 2017.
