CLUBWAKA Interviews: Flag Football in Albuquerque

With the big game on our mind, we’re thinking of running routes and scoring touch downs.

We sat down with Amber Marcella from CLUBWAKA in Albuquerque, NM who chats with us about flag football, her favorite team memories, and winning the league championship in back to back seasons.

CLUBWAKA Team Name: Nice Snatch

Occupation: Loan Officer

Favorite Hobbies: Softball, kickball, football, & beer pong

Super Bowl 2017 pick: I'd say the Giants all day, but I guess I'll take the Patriots.

How did you get into flag football?

My two friends on my kickball team, David and Michael, were looking for some girls for their team. I've never caught a football before, but It sounded like so much fun, I couldn't possibly say no.

What was your first impression of your team?

A bunch of misfits that perfectly fit together. Also, alcohol was both our friend and foe.

What's your favorite thing about your team?

Everyone on my team! We’ve never taken the game too seriously. Most days half of us were hungover, and yet we still manage to get a win, but even if we lost we still laughed and enjoyed each others company.  My teammates became my friends.

Describe your best game ever.

That's a hard a one. I don’t  like to talk about myself so I'll describe our seasons. Our first season we were 2 -4. We didn't think we had a chance in hell to win in the tournament, but yet we did. We beat two of the best teams in the blazing heat. That win was glorious. The second season we added some amazing athletes and went 6-0. Then we went on to win the end of season tournament undefeated. Celebrating the victories was so much fun and Id like to thank everyone past and present on our team.
