Let's Help Yet Another Great Cause: DonorsChoose.org

WAKA Players! You have raised over $1 million for charity in the past four years alone! Now, we ask...do you think you can beat Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon to help put school supplies in classrooms? Here's how it works...

Have you caught that commercial recently that features a bouncing red kickball?

The ad is for DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that allows public school teachers to post classroom project requests – donors then decide which projects they’d like to donate toward. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class, and even include kickballs and other athletic equipment. It’s a great way to get much need supplies directly into schools.

How this Relates to WAKA Kickball Leagues
We are excited to tell you WAKA Kickball now has its own page on DonorsChoose.org and your league can create a Giving Page on the site to raise money to help more students get the materials they need. A league could choose to raise money for teacher projects in their local area, for example, or for any teacher projects that include kickballs.

Our Goal: To Out Raise Colbert & Fallon
And we have a small goal – to out raise Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon! They had a goal of $26,000 back in March and ended up raising $119,725. You might recall that Colbert performed “Friday” by Rebecca Black on Jimmy Fallon’s show when they passed their $26,000 goal.

Well, we’d like to beat their initial goal of $26,000 and then some! And we know WAKA players can do it – you have raised over $1 million for charity in the past four years alone!

How to Get Involved and Start Us Toward That Goal
If you’d like to get a Giving Page set up for your WAKA Kickball league, please email us. Once a page is set up for a league, we’ll add it to the WAKA Leaderboard on DonorsChoose.org where we'll track our progress.

Stay tuned here to our blog, Facebook, Twitter and our Kickball Today email list for updates.

And thank you for playing WAKA Kickball and for all the work you've done for charity!
