Team Stories We Love: Duke City Krackheads

What happens when a guy from Albuquerque moves to Southern California and starts a kickball team with a bunch of free agents who have never played adult kickball? A Krack-Family!

The Duke Cuty Krackheads have been playing together as a team since 2011 when their captain started the team with all free agents. Lucky for them, it was love at first sight and they’ve become the best of friends who do everything together. When they aren’t playing kickball, they go bowling, take group trips, and hangout as a team. They celebrate holidays together; KrackOween, Kracksgiving, Kracksmas and are getting together for Krackerbowl this weekend.

Team members say, “being a part of the Krackheads means the world to us! We've gone through break ups/ divorces, marriages, and the birth of our very own team krackbaby together. All of these things just bring us closer and closer together. Two of our Krackheads even moved across the country and are still involved in everything we do! Erin traveled from Delaware to play in the Wakapalooza Fun Games with us and Dom gave us a cardboard cutout of his head so he still gets to party with us. We are the only team that has only won a handful of games but still has a waiting list to be on the team!”

Huge thank you to Kristy S. for sharing the team’s story with us. If you’d like to play WAKA Kickball & Social Sports, sign up here!
