Tips for New Adult Kickball Players

If you are a new WAKA player, the most important thing you can do to have a great season is simply to show up for games and spend time with your team. We’ve found that the more time you can spend with your teammates, the better time you’ll have.

We know it can be a little intimidating to try something new and join a team so the staff at WAKA Kickball have come up with our top tips for new players so you can have a great first season:

Get your team to the parties and introduce yourself to players from other teams! Almost everyone signed up to meet new people, so stick your hand out there and say hello! - Megan L. Senior Community Manager

Try everything once. If you are not really a “bar person”, still make sure to check it out.  Don’t be afraid to dress up on theme weeks and participate in all parties. The more you go to, the more you get for your money! - Jon B. WAKA Community Manager

Make sure to go to the league sponsor bar and rally your team to join you every week! It’s where to get to know people off the field and make great personal and professional connections.” - Lydia R. WAKA Community Manager

Showing up to the game is only half of the fun. The bar is where the magic happens! - Sean G. Owner - New Orleans, LA

Get together with your teammates outside of game nights for team bonding.  Happy hours, game nights, pot lucks, t-shirt decorating nights.  You’ll have more fun on the field as you know each other better! - Kristen S. Director of Customer Service

Guys: try a little eyeliner on costume night. I have no idea why, but ladies love guyliner. - Stephen M. Customer Service Administrator

Mix up players from different teams early in the season with a kickball game at the field or a bar game challenge. It helps when players know friends all over the league. - Cindy H. Owner - Durham/Chapel Hill, NC

Dive in and enjoy the ride! We’re all here to have a good time! - Taylor T. WAKA Community Manager
