WAKA Charity Heroes

The list of appreciation for our WAKA family continues to grow and grow. The dedicated volunteers, the community coordinators that pile their living rooms with WAKA shirts and equipment every season and last but not least our tens of thousands of players that wear their WAKA shirts with pride time and time again! Not only do you wear the WAKA name with pride but you take that one step further by giving back to your local communities and to our national charity partners like Kick-It.

In the last ten years, WAKA players have raised just over $375,000 for charity. League trivia nights, bake sales, bunt contests, cornhole tournaments, clothing drives, penny wars, and personally volunteering their time are just a few ways that our WAKA players have used to raise money for hundreds of charities nationwide. The possibilities are truly endless and our players are always coming up with new and creative ways to raise money for these charitable causes.

We’d like to extend an extra heartfelt thank you to our friends up in the NY Mid Hudson League who have raised a total of $17,830 and our friends on the West Coast in the CA Tinseltown League that have raised just over $10,000. We should also mention our DC leagues, (the birthplace of WAKA kickball) because they’re responsible for donating a whopping $110,000 over the last decade.

Most recently, the VA Peninsula League was featured on the local news channel for their first Kick Cancer tournament where money raised went to the Relay for Life charity and the league out of New Orleans that made headlines for raising $23,000 to benefit Team Gleason.

So during World Kindness Day on November 13th, we tip our hats to all of you for showing Kindness throughout the year and for making all of us here at WAKA incredibly proud to call you family.
