King of the Hill Award Winners Announced!

Nominations are in, the votes have been tallied and after hours of debate and a few rounds of rock, paper, scissors to break ties - we are proud to announce the 2010 King of the Hill Award winners! Thank you to everyone who submitted entries.

Overall Best Team

Overall Best Team

Your MOM from CO Mile High League (spring) has spirit, creativity, their blog, and went undefeated last season!

Best League Board

MA Minutemen League - their board rocks, you can read why (page 2).

Best Ghost Man on Third newsletters

MA Commonwealth League for its "Cutting-Edge-If-This-Were-2003" approach to the GMOT and its weekly blog. It presents all the information kickabrigians need to know, plus the rants of a possible crazy person, song lyrics that revolve around a certain theme for each week, highly esoteric pop culture references and more.

Best Charity Event

The WAKA Kickball Leagues of the Phoenix Metro area. This year, the leagues of Phoenix and its surrounding cities got together for a joint charity project with one goal in mind: to adopt the wish of a local child with the Make a Wish Foundation. There were many side projects for other charities throughout the year also, but several events and activities brought players together from across the city to raise money for our Wish Kid, as well as to encourage a sense of community. The leagues exceeded the goal and are now just waiting to hear about what wish will be granted. Several WAKA players in Arizona have a personal connection to Make a Wish, with either a child, sibling or friend who has been granted a wish and it was a very emotional experience to be at the final event when we realized we had reached our goal.

Best Social Events or Parties

Best Social Events or Parties

Austin knows how to party - TX Live and TX Capital Leagues for their out-of-this-world parties and creativity.

Most Team Spirit

Most Team Spirit

Wicked Awesome Helicopter Ninjas from the MA Commonwealth League - they won us over when they told us, "Each week there is a team competition to decide the following week's co-captain, which included "Best Fake Mustache" in honor of Father's Day, "Best Photoshop" and "Most Patriotic Costume" for July 4th week. Every game ended with a presentation of the team awards, the Medallion of Strength - for the game's MVP and Sword of Honor - presented for the most ninja-esque play."
