Social Challenges

Each week we will have 1 or more social challenges that your team can participate in at the bar. Social challenges earn you social points.  The team with the most social points at the end of the season is declared the Social Challenge Champions.  In many leagues this award is more revered than the team that wins the playoffs!!

We will also have the Social Challenge MVP award at the end of the season!!

Social Challenge:  #RefLove

This one is simple and we will be doing it every week to show some love to our volunteer referees.

  1. Buy a drink for one of people who refereed your dodgeball match this week.
  2. Take a picture of you and the ref holding their drink and post it to the CLUBWAKA Oaks Dodgeball Facebook Group with the hashtag #RefLove.
  3. Here is the link to the Facebook Group:

Ref Love
Here is a sample pic of Ian Workol from Balls Out showing some #RefLove by buying Rob Patterson from So So Joes a beer!

Pro Tip:  Your team can buy multiple food or drinks for a single referee, or buy each referee from your match a drink to earn extra social points.  You will get 1 point for each picture posted. Also, some people don’t drink, in that case a soda or something to eat is a great way to show #RefLove.

Social Challenge:  Know Your Neighbor

This one is often been called Stranger Danger, but that’s not a very fun name!  Know Your Neighbor is a simple icebreaker challenge.

  1. Introduce yourself to a member of another team who you don’t know.
  2. Take a picture of you and them and post it to the CLUBWAKA Oaks Dodgeball Facebook Group with the hashtag #KnowYourNeighbor.
  3. In the comments, tell us your new friend’s name, hometown and their favorite food or drink.

Pro Tip:  Just like #RefLove, your team can meet multiple people and make multiple posts in order to gain more points… and gain more friends!

Social Challenge: Trivia

This is a great challenge for your whole team to participate in together.  In fact, the more people from your team that turn out the greater the brain trust you will have to answer trivia!

  1. Each of the 4 dodgeball teams will be a trivia team.
  2. No cellphone use is allowed..for research.  Take all of the pics and video you want.
  3. The game will be 3 rounds of trivia with 10 questions each.
  4. Adam & Michelle will be making and asking the questions.
  5. Your team will get 2 social points for posting a team trivia pic on the CLUBWAKA Oaks Facebook Page, or on your Instagram Profile with the hashtag #CLUBWAKATrivia.
  6. You will get 1 extra point for each additional teammate that posts about trivia on Instagram.

Here is the point value breakdown:

  • 1st Place - 10 social points
  • 2nd Place - 5 social points
  • 3rd Place - 2 social points
  • 4th Place - 0 social points

Pro Tip:  Bring a larger team to have a better chance of getting the questions right.  12 heads are better than one!

Social Challenge:  Halloween Theme Photos

Team Photo

This is a fun challenge that is great for the most spirited members of our league.

  1. Have everyone on your team wear a halloween costume to the dodgeball games on Sunday.
  2. At the bar, take a team photo and post it on the CA Oaks Dodgeball Facebook Group with the hastag #HalloweenWeek.
  3. Get everyone to like your photo!
  4. The team with the most likes on their photo will get 5 social points!

Social Challenge: Flip Cup!

Flip Cup

  1. Each dodgeball team will assemble a 5-person team to compete in flip cup
  2. Based on the social challenge rankings, the teams will be seeded into a single-elimination tournament bracket.  See below for the bracket placements.
  3. Flip cup match will be played the best of 5 games, with the starting cup alternating so each team member starts 1 game.
  4. The winners of the first 2 matches play for 1st and 2nd place, the losers of the first 2 matches play for 3rd and 4th place.
  5. Players who prefer not to drink may play with water instead of beer.
  6. Your team can get up to 2 additional bonus social points by posting a photo of your game in the CA Oaks Dodgeball Group with the hashtag #FlipCup.
  7. Never played Flip Cup before?  Here is a totorial for you:

Social Challenge:  Double Dare

Double Dare
Just like the 90's TV Show, the Double Dare challenge is a mix of trivia and physical challenges.  A big thanks to last's season's Ball Town Locos who came up with this challenge (Kevin Gamboa & Matt Jacen I think)

  1. Each team will get 5 social points for participating.
  2. Each team will play a round against another team.  Social standings determine the matchups.
  3. Points are awarded for correctly answering trivia questions.
  4. Teams have the option to choose "Dare", rather than answer the trivia question.  The question passes to their opponents.
  5. Their opponents have the option to answer the question for points or "Double Dare" and pass the question back.  In doing so, the question is now worth double the points.
  6. After Double Dare, teams have the option to answer the question, or try to complete a physical challenge.
  7. Note: Challenges will not be as messy as the original TV show.
  8. The team with the highest point score gets social points.
