Captain’s Responsibilities

Being a Captain has certain obligations that each team Captain must agree to.

Failure to abide by Captain responsibilities may result in any of the following actions at the discretion of WAKA:
* Removal from the Captains position
* Automatic game forfeits
* Game suspension

You must attend the mandatory Captain’s call held prior to the beginning of the season.
More info will be routed to all captains.

Player Management
- All players on your roster are entitled to play an equal amount of time. You may not bench someone in favor of other players.
- Your final roster is set by the league and may have as many as 26 players.
- Players must be officially registered, pay fees, and agree to liability waiver as part of registration.
- Make sure you and your players know the rules.
- Encourage your team to go to the sponsor bar regularly after games and attend other social events throughout the season. Remember, WAKA is more of a social organization than a competitive sports league.

Beverage Policy
- Patton Park has a NO ALCOHOL policy which will be strictly enforced.
- Failure for players to abide by this rule could result in loss of the field.
- Anyone seen with an open container, either clearly visible in their car or on the field, will be immediately asked to leave the park.
- Continued violations will result in permanent removal of the player from the league and / or team forfeits.
- The NO ALCOHOL policy really IS this strict. Please help us with this effort.
- Please monitor your team and encourage players to wait until the sponsor bar to begin the festivities.
- No Cans or Bottles.
- All trash leaves with you. Fines will be imposed by the park for excessive trash.

- If after 15 minutes, your team does not have the required minimum number of players, the game is a forfeit.
- As always, there are issues that may cause a delay in the start of the game which is understood. However, players arriving late is not one of them.

Conduct / Ref Interaction
- You are responsible for the conduct of your team and players at all times while at the park.
- Any harassment of other players, WAKA representatives, or referees must be dealt with immediately.
- Only Captains and named co Captains can "discuss" a call with a referee

Weekly Communication
- Ensure that your team is aware of the schedule and regularly checks the website for updates.
- Email your team a day or two prior to game day to remind players of the start time and field you are playing on.
- You are responsible for making sure that you have players available and on the field on time for games they are scheduled to referee.
- Help the newer players with strategy & tips.
- Captains need to prepare a lineup prior to game start time and provide a copy to the Captain of the team you are playing.

Field Setup
- You may be asked to help set-up fields if you have the early game and take them down for the late game
- Try and get your players involved with the league, join the board, send in photos etc.

Most importantly, Captains should be team leaders and encourage fun on and off the field.
