Kickin' It With the Kids

WAKA hosted a one day kickball outing with two local organizations that support under privileged kids, East Atlanta Kids Club & SafeHouse Outreach on August 22, 2009.

Though there had been rain the night before, by 10:30am the teams were organized, fields were setup and the games were under way. The food team was in route to get the BBQ, then the calls came in for more water and ice. They made there rounds to get us more supplies as we needed.

The rest of the day displayed the leadership that all our volunteers brought to this event. Around 1:15, the games ended and it was time to pack up the buses. Each kid received a new back pack full of all kinds of goodies (thanks to all that provided the donations)! The kids were all on the buses when suddenly the bus was bouncing to: "I like to move it, move it." Truly a entertaining site to the end of a perfect day!

It was such a pleasure to work with each team and it really showed the quality of people that WAKA, Safehouse, East Atlanta Kids clubs & Fur Bus all have.

Thanks to:

-Team Fur Bus for donating the buses, making last minute changes and arriving so early after finishing up at 3 am the night before

-One Star for donating the BBQ and all the other sides providing us with a delicious lunch

-All the volunteer for thier time, planning, donation & leadership.

-And WAKA for donating the funds to help make this event happen.

We can't wait for WAKA's Kick'n it with the Kids II in Spring 2010!
